Caring Teacher Awards 2026
Hougang Primary School warmly congratulates Mr Matthew Yeo on receiving the National Caring Teacher Commendation Award 2026. With 17 years of experience in education, Mr Yeo is passionate about nurturing both the hearts and minds of his students. He believes that every child deserves to feel valued, heard and supported, and strives to build strong relationships grounded in empathy and trust.
Guided by the belief that "students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care," Mr Yeo fosters a classroom culture of kindness, gratitude and respect. Through his dedication to students' well-being and holistic development, he inspires young minds and makes a lasting difference in their lives.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr Yeo remains humbled by the opportunity to influence the lives of his students. Whether celebrating their successes, supporting them through setbacks, or simply being a trusted adult they can turn to, he continues to demonstrate the profound impact of a caring teacher.
The school also wishes to take this opportunity to offer our heartiest congratulations to Ms Anisah Bte Abdul Khalid, Mrs Gillian Au, Ms Amanda Tan and Mr Tan Tien Lung for achieving the Caring Teacher Awards at School Level. Thank you to all deserving recipients for going the extra mile to make a positive difference to the lives of our students!
The Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence (LKY-ARE)
The LKY-ARE Award is a national level award for achievement in education that was presented since 2005. It recognises well-rounded students who have excelled in both academic and non-academic spheres, and who exemplify the qualities articulated in our desired outcomes of education.
Georgia Long Si Qi, a 2023 graduate of Hougang Primary School, exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, and compassion. Awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence and named Outstanding Student of the Year 2023, Georgia's achievements span multiple domains. As a senior prefect, she approached her duties with unwavering dedication, playing key roles in school ceremonies and events. Her academic prowess shone through her participation in the Raffles Science Olympiad and Singapore Primary Science Olympiad, earning Merit and Bronze medals respectively. Beyond academics, Georgia's character truly sets her apart. She holds a deep-seated belief that the ability to contribute positively is not just an option, but a responsibility. This conviction manifested in her willingness to assist fellow classmates, share notes, and stand up for those facing social challenges. Georgia's journey at Hougang Primary, marked by active learning, dedicated service as a Library Leader, and a genuine desire to positively influence others' lives, sets a sterling example for her peers. Now posted to Raffles Girls' School, Georgia carries with her the values and opportunities nurtured at Hougang Primary, poised to make an even greater impact in her future endeavours.
